Marsita Ferguson is very active within her community currently sit on the board of United Way of Lake County and the Lake County Branch NAACP but takes the most pride in the opportunities she has had as the Advisor of Lake County Branch NAACP Youth Council and the founder of Shades of Success. Both programs are dedicated to improving the lives of the children within our community through education, volunteering and youth development.

This blog came out of my experiences as a black woman in America and all the trials and trauma, gains and wins, pains and losses I have had along the way. I have realized that I am having an amazing and sometimes awful journey in life and it is important to share it with the world in hopes of learning from others while teaching from my experiences.

As my visitor, you are part of a fantastic community and I can't wait to hear all of your perspectives and ideas. I would love to stay engaged with you, have open and honest dialogue, discuss the tough conversations and just help each other grow!

Thank you so much for being part of this community. There are plenty of ways that you can become more involved. I am the founder of Black Lives Matter - Lake County, please follow us at and FB: black lives matter lake county, Twitter: LivesLake and IG: blacklivesmatter_lakecounty.
