Ending Global & Local Hunger
Walk begins at the Kirtland Gazebo at City Hall
East Shore UU along with Old South UCC are sponsoring a Crop Hunger Walk in Kirtland this coming September. The Walk will take place Sunday afternoon on September 15th at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Denis Paul and I are part of the organizing committee with Rev. Denis is the Co-Coordinator with Gina Lynch of Old South and I am heading up Arrangements and Logistics.
So what is a Crop Hunger Walk? From their website (www.crophungerwalk.org/
“CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by local congregations or groups to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world.” Each local CROP Hunger Walk can return up to 25 percent of the funds it raises to hunger-fighting programs in its own community.
One of the jobs of the Arrangements and Logistics committee will be to arrange for setting up the registration area, (tables, chairs, etc.) and helping with the registration of the walkers. The registration area will be the gazebo in front of Kirtland City Hall. Help will be needed from the East Shore community. The 2 pm start time was set so that it will not interfere with church participation or lunch.
Please put the Sept. 15th date on your calendar for a great event in our local community. Contact me if you would like to work on the Arrangements and we hope there is a large turnout from East Shore on 9/15. Stay tune for updates on the Crop Walk.
