I am Reverend George Buchanan. I’ve been an ordained Unitarian minister since 2006. I recently retired after serving five and a half years as minister to a small Unitarian Universalist congregation in Dunkirk/Fredonia – just over the border in New York State. Before this I served three different congregations here in Ohio. My wife Carrie and I live in Cleveland Heights with our piles of books and papers and one VERY spoiled cat. We have two children and three grandchildren, all living in faraway cities. Carrie and I are both Canadian citizens. We plan to move back to Eastern Ontario next summer when Carrie finishes her work as a professor here in Ohio. I’ve spoken at East Shore before and have had other occasions to visit as well. I have always appreciated your kindness and warm welcome. I’ve agreed to take on three roles with East Shore in the congregational year just beginning. 1. I will preach every other month. 2. Halcyon Domanski – East Shore’s Director of Faith Development – and I will consult regularly. Halcyon is wise and experienced. And still it will be good for her to have a “sounding board” person to talk things over with. 3. I will also consult regularly with the East Shore Board and attend Board meetings regularly. East Shore has strong and experienced leaders. And it seems wise to have an experienced minister available to the Board.
