June marks the celebration of Pride Events around the Country. East Shore as a Tri-county church is involved in Events in Lake, Ashtabula as well as two events in Geauga County. This effort takes a number of volunteers who are willing to do a two- hour shift at one of the events. The events are safe, always monitored by police and are opportunities to see other organizations, churches and vendors in action.
Event dates, times and locations are as follows:
Lake County Pride Sat June 14 at Lake County History Center 11-5 pm
Ashtabula Pride Sat June 21 at Walnut Beach Ashtabula Harbor 12-6 pm
Geauga Pride Sat June 21 at Chardon Square 2-6 pm
SoGI Family Pride Sat June 28 at Family Life Center Chagrin Falls 1-6 pm
Event Day Coordinator: This job involves being the point person of one of the day events. Input in advance into what is important for the East Shore display at that event. Making sure that Pride volunteers know how to put up and take down tents and table. Being available for any questions, problems or if someone needs to late cancel a shift. This position can be overlapped with a set-up or tear-down shift.
Set -Up and Greeting: This job involves pickup of all items from the Church prior to the day of the Event. Entering event during the Vendor Set-up time.* This includes the set -up and stabilizing of a 10 x10 tent and opening table and chairs (at needed events). Opening the East Shore display. Organizing the display of literature and give aways on the table. The set-up team are the first greeters to Event goers.
Mid-Day Volunteers:
This job involves greeting of individuals to the Church table. Willingness to talk about the Church and answer questions asked.
Late afternoon Greeting and Teardown:
This job involves greeting of individuals and being willing to stay until Vendors are allowed to leave. Responsible for the repacking of literature and give away items. Take down tent and table and chairs (at needed events). Close East Shore Display. Responsible for returning all items to the Church by specified date.
There will be a checklist for Set- Up and Teardown Volunteers of items needed for each Event. All Volunteers have the opportunity to visit other booths and events either before or after their shift. Most important requirement is positive attitude and a smile.
