Masking inside the church building

Hi all,

On Monday August 16 the ad hoc committee on re-opening the church had a meeting to reassess our response to the covid 19 virus. There are rising cases in our area of Ohio and nationwide causing the CDC to change their recommendations for fully vaccinated people. We have used the CDC guidelines through out the pandemic to establish our recommendations. In June we recommended re-opening, asking non-vaccinated people 3 and over to please mask when in the church. Now the CDC recommendations for safely gathering are to mask inside even if you are fully vaccinated.

The board of trustees agreed yesterday to the following policy:

With the exception of a person speaking from the pulpit, children 2 and under and those with documented disabilities who are incapable of wearing a mask protective face masks/face coverings are required when inside the East Shore Church building.

Activities that involve food sharing within the building should be put on hold at this time.

For congregants to continue to use common sense and stay home if unwell.

The Committee will continue to meet as needed in regards to CDC and UUA  recommendations about Covid-19 as it affects congregational gatherings.

It is the ad hoc committee and the board’s desire to provide a safe place of worship and to provide opportunities to gather in person for those whose health allows, and also to continue online opportunities for those who are not able to join us in person at this time. Thank you for your cooperation.

In peace,

Mary Mason
